ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into two different programs designed to help prevent or reduce alcohol use among young people aged 12 to 17 who have recently visited a pediatric care facility. Participants will either use a brief online program or the same program along with eight weeks of supportive text messages. Additionally, parents or caregivers are encouraged to download a free app that can help them talk to their children about drinking. The goal is to see how effective these programs are and if they can be used widely in healthcare settings to support young people.
To be eligible for this study, young patients must be aged 12 to 17, have had an appointment at a Michigan medicine pediatric care system within the last two years, and have used alcohol in the past year. They also need to have a phone that can receive text messages. Those who do not speak English, are unable to understand the study, or already have a sibling participating in the trial cannot join. If you or someone you know fits the eligibility criteria, this study could provide valuable support in managing and reducing alcohol use among youth.
