ClinConnect Summary
This study is testing a computer-based vestibular function assessment and interactive training system for older adults who have dizziness. It combines balance training with thinking-and-attention tasks (dual-tasking) to see if adding cognitive demands helps improve balance, walking, and overall function. Participants are randomly assigned to either traditional vestibular rehabilitation or the same rehab plus additional dual-task exercises, and researchers use sensors and tests to measure movement, balance, vision, and how dizziness affects daily life over time.
Who can join? Adults aged 55 to 85 who can walk more than 30 meters, can understand Mandarin or Taiwanese, and have enough vision for outdoor activity. The study will include people with dizziness or a history of falls, as well as healthy volunteers. Exclusions include serious nervous system problems, blindness or deafness, inability to follow instructions, or current fractures or major joint injuries. The trial is conducted at Taipei Medical University in Taipei, Taiwan, and is currently enrolling by invitation. It plans to enroll about 150 participants and run through 2026.
