ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether giving antibiotics to patients during hand surgery can help prevent infections, especially in developing countries where resources may be limited. The researchers want to find out if using antibiotics is necessary for people having surgery on their hands due to soft tissue injuries. To do this, they will compare two groups of patients: one group will receive antibiotics during the surgery, and the other group will not. They will then check if there are any differences in infection rates between the two groups.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be adults aged 65 to 74 who have clean soft tissue injuries on their upper limbs that require surgery. However, individuals with certain health conditions or those who might not complete the treatment will not be included. If you join the study, you will have the chance to help researchers understand the best ways to keep patients safe during surgeries in places with fewer medical resources. The trial is not yet recruiting, so there’s no need to worry about signing up just yet.
