ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the use of cochlear implants in elderly individuals, specifically those who are 80 years old and older. A cochlear implant is a device that helps people with severe hearing loss by directly stimulating the auditory nerve, which can improve their ability to hear and communicate. The goal of the study is to show that this treatment is effective and a good long-term option for older adults who have not had a cochlear implant before.

To participate in this trial, individuals must be 80 years or older and have never had a cochlear implant before. Unfortunately, those under 80 years old or who have had previous cochlear surgeries are not eligible. Participants can expect to receive a cochlear implant and be monitored over time to assess its effectiveness and how it impacts their quality of life. This study is actively recruiting participants, and it could provide valuable information about the benefits of cochlear implants specifically for the elderly population.
