ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying ways to prevent postoperative delirium (POD) in elderly patients who are frail or pre-frail and are undergoing elective non-cardiac surgery. POD is a common condition that can occur after surgery, causing confusion and memory issues, particularly in older adults. The goal of this trial is to see if applying specific non-drug interventions, like helping patients stay oriented to their surroundings, encouraging physical activity, and improving their sleep, can reduce the chances of developing POD compared to standard care.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be over 65 years old and scheduled for elective non-cardiac surgery under general anesthesia. Those with a history of drug or alcohol abuse, certain neurological conditions, or allergies to anesthetic drugs will not be able to participate. If you or a loved one joins the study, you can expect to receive personalized care from nursing teams who will implement these non-pharmacological measures to help reduce the risk of POD after surgery. The hope is that this approach will lead to better recovery outcomes for frail elderly patients.
