ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how bruxism, which is the habit of grinding or clenching your teeth, affects the treatment outcomes for people with moderate to severe gum disease, known as stage 2 and stage 3 periodontitis. The researchers want to understand if the forces from bruxism change how well treatment works, specifically a procedure called subgingival instrumentation, which cleans below the gum line to improve gum health.
To participate in this trial, individuals should be healthy adults aged 30 to 50 who have at least 20 teeth and are diagnosed with stage 2 or stage 3 periodontitis. There are two groups in the study: one group has bruxism, while the other does not. Participants will undergo the treatment and will be monitored to see how their gum health responds. Importantly, those with certain health conditions or medications that could affect their gums, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women, are not eligible to join. This study aims to provide valuable insights into managing gum disease more effectively for those who grind their teeth.
