ClinConnect Summary
The "Empowered Relief for Youth" trial is looking at a new program designed to help young people manage chronic pain, which can come from various conditions like fibromyalgia or abdominal pain. This program, called Empowered Relief for Youth (ER-Y), is a single-session class that teaches students about how pain works and provides them with skills to help control their pain on their own. The study aims to see if this program is acceptable and helpful for youth aged 10 to 18 who speak English and have been diagnosed with chronic pain.
If eligible, participants will take part in the class and then fill out surveys about their pain and well-being at different times: right before the class, and again at 4, 8, and 12 weeks after. This will help researchers understand how effective the program is over time. It's important to know that those with certain neurological conditions or severe mood disorders won't be able to join the study. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and it hopes to gather valuable insights on how to better support young people dealing with chronic pain.
