ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how improving nutrition and physical health can help older patients with colorectal cancer who are scheduled for surgery. Many of these patients struggle to walk a certain distance (400 meters in six minutes) before their operation, which could affect their recovery. The researchers believe that many of these patients may be malnourished, and by focusing on improving their nutrition, they might be able to help them walk further and recover better after surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be 65 years or older, have colorectal cancer, and currently be unable to walk the required distance. They also need to show signs of malnutrition. However, those with certain health issues, advanced cancer, or who do not speak English or French cannot participate. If you join the trial, you can expect support in improving your nutrition and physical performance, which could lead to better health outcomes before and after surgery.
