ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how pain from a procedure called peripheral venous cannulation (which is when a small tube is placed in a vein to give medications or fluids) can help predict how much pain a patient may experience after total knee replacement surgery. The researchers want to see if measuring this pain before surgery can give them clues about the level of pain patients might feel afterward, both when they are resting and when they move.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 18 and 80 years old and scheduled for their first knee surgery, which will be done under general anesthesia combined with a nerve block to help manage pain. They should also be in good health, as defined by certain medical guidelines. Participants will need to agree to take part in the study by signing a consent form. The trial is not accepting anyone who has certain pain conditions, mental health issues, or a history of substance dependence, among other criteria. If you join the study, you can expect to share your pain experiences before and after your surgery to help the researchers understand this relationship better.
