ClinConnect Summary

The ARROW trial is looking at how peer support and education can help young people with HIV in Zambia get diagnosed and treated for certain cancers, like cervical cancer, Kaposi sarcoma, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Young people living with HIV often face more health challenges and higher risks of dying from cancer than those who are not infected. This study aims to improve access to early cancer diagnosis services and encourage patients to stick with their cancer treatments by using support from people who understand their experiences.

To participate in this trial, you need to be between 15 and 39 years old, have been on HIV medication for at least six months, and plan to stay in the same place for the next three years. Unfortunately, if you are pregnant at the time you want to join, you won’t be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive support and guidance from peers who have similar experiences, which might help you feel more comfortable seeking care for cancer. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to make a real difference in the lives of young people living with HIV and facing cancer challenges.
