ClinConnect Summary

The EvHortim clinical trial is studying how certain imaging tests can help monitor the condition known as Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA), also known as Horton's disease. GCA is a serious inflammation of the blood vessels that can lead to severe complications, so early diagnosis and treatment with corticosteroids are crucial. Traditionally, doctors have used a procedure called a temporal artery biopsy to diagnose GCA, but this trial is exploring the effectiveness of non-invasive imaging methods like MRI and ultrasound to see if they can provide better, quicker results without needing to perform a biopsy.

To participate in this study, you need to be 50 years or older and have been diagnosed with GCA based on specific criteria. Participants will undergo imaging tests at different time points—one month and three months after the initial diagnosis, and then at six and twelve months as part of regular follow-up care. If any symptoms return during the study, additional scans will be done to check for signs of active disease. This trial aims to improve how doctors can track the condition over time, making it easier to manage GCA while avoiding invasive procedures.
