ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring ways to improve pain control after laparoscopic colorectal surgery, which is a minimally invasive procedure to treat conditions in the colon and rectum. The study is looking at a new technique called the erector spinae plane block (ESPB) that can help relieve pain more effectively. Additionally, the trial is examining how ketamine, a medication often used for anesthesia, can enhance the effects of local pain relief medications. Participants will also be given a specific patch that delivers fentanyl, a strong pain reliever, to see if it works better than another patch in managing pain after surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults undergoing laparoscopic colorectal surgery and should be in good overall health, as indicated by their American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status of I or II. However, individuals with certain conditions, such as allergies to the study medications, skin infections, or heart and kidney problems, will not be able to participate. If you decide to join this trial, you can expect to receive care that focuses on managing your pain effectively after surgery, which can help improve your recovery experience.
