ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods of pain control for patients who have just undergone a kidney transplant. After surgery, patients usually receive a one-time injection of a local anesthetic to help with pain, followed by a device that allows them to control their own morphine pain relief. The trial is testing a new method called Continuous Local Anaesthetic Infiltration via Wound Catheter (LAWC), which delivers the anesthetic continuously over a longer period of time. This study aims to find out whether this new method can provide better pain relief and improve recovery compared to the traditional one-time injection.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be having their first kidney transplant and must be between the ages of 18 and 75. They also need to be able to give their consent to join the study. Those with certain conditions, like previous kidney surgeries or ongoing use of strong pain medications, won't be eligible. Participants can expect to be randomly assigned to one of two groups, where they will either receive the standard pain relief method or the new continuous method. The researchers will then compare how much morphine is needed, how well pain is managed, and how quickly patients recover. This study is currently recruiting participants who meet the criteria.
