ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how continuously monitoring blood sugar levels can help patients who are having surgery for colorectal cancer. When patients undergo surgery, their blood sugar can increase due to stress and trauma from the procedure. This trial aims to see if tracking blood sugar levels continuously can help doctors manage these changes better and potentially reduce the risk of complications, such as infections at the surgery site.
To take part in this study, participants need to be between the ages of 65 and 74, have confirmed colorectal cancer that requires surgery, and must be able to provide informed consent, which means they understand the study and agree to participate. Unfortunately, individuals who are pregnant, on dialysis, or unable to give consent cannot participate. Those who join the trial will have their blood sugar closely monitored during their surgery, and the results will help researchers learn more about how stress affects blood sugar and how it might impact recovery after surgery.
