ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a common gum disease called periodontitis, which affects many adults and can lead to serious health issues. The researchers want to understand how certain immune cells, known as neutrophils, behave in the mouth during different stages of gum health and disease. They believe that these neutrophils might play different roles in how gum disease develops, especially in the transition from gingivitis (a milder form of gum disease) to periodontitis. By studying samples from patients, the team hopes to identify specific neutrophil types and their interactions with bacteria and tissue in the mouth.
To participate in the study, you need to be over 18 years old, speak and understand French, and be willing to take part. The study is looking for individuals with healthy gums, gingivitis, or periodontitis but not those who have recently taken antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have certain health conditions affecting neutrophils. If you join, you'll help researchers learn more about this important health issue, which could lead to better ways to identify and treat gum disease in the future.
