ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different ways of accessing the radial artery (in the wrist) to treat patients who have suffered a heart attack known as STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction). The trial compares the conventional method of accessing the radial artery with a newer approach called distal radial access. The main goal is to find out if using the distal method leads to fewer major heart-related problems within 30 days after the procedure, while still ensuring that the procedure is successful.
To participate, patients must be diagnosed with STEMI and agree to undergo a procedure called PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) to open blocked arteries. They will need to sign a consent form and will be randomly assigned to either the conventional or distal approach. Some patients may not be eligible due to certain health conditions, like severe heart issues or previous surgeries. Overall, this trial aims to determine if the distal approach is just as safe and effective as the conventional method, which could help improve treatment options for future heart attack patients.
