ClinConnect Summary

The clinical trial, titled "Prevention of Vasovagal Reactions in First-time Blood Donors," is studying ways to prevent a common reaction called vasovagal reaction (VVR) that can happen during or after donating blood. This reaction can cause feelings of dizziness, fainting, or discomfort, especially in first-time donors. The goal is to find effective strategies that combine physical exercises and psychological support to help reduce these reactions. The study will look at how well simple measures, like doing muscle exercises, staying hydrated, and using a salty snack before donation, can help keep donors feeling safe and comfortable.

To participate in the trial, you must be between 18 and 70 years old and a first-time blood donor in Lyon. You should be healthy enough to donate blood, weigh at least 50 kg, and be able to communicate in French. If you join, you'll learn some helpful exercises and receive information about common fears related to blood donation. You'll also be contacted a few days after your donation to check in on how you felt. Overall, the study aims to make blood donation a better experience for new donors by addressing both physical and emotional aspects of their comfort.
