ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the use of a medication called dexmedetomidine, delivered through a nebulizer, to see if it helps reduce changes in blood pressure and heart rate during laparoscopic bariatric surgery in morbidly obese patients. The goal is to determine if using this medication before surgery can make the process smoother and safer for patients when they undergo procedures that require general anesthesia.
To participate, individuals must be between 18 and 50 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) between 40 and 50, and be scheduled for elective laparoscopic bariatric surgery. This study will include both men and women, totaling around 90 participants. However, those with certain health issues, such as severe heart or lung problems, and individuals who are currently taking specific medications or have psychiatric conditions, will not be eligible. Patients who join the study can expect to receive the nebulized medication before their surgery and will be monitored closely to assess how it affects their body's response during the procedure.
