ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how to determine the best dosage of a medication called propofol, which is used to help patients relax and be comfortable during surgery. The researchers want to find out if using a person's lean body weight (the weight of their body minus fat) can help doctors give the right amount of propofol for anesthesia. Patients over 18 years old who are scheduled for surgeries lasting between 2 to 6 hours and have a body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 35 may be eligible to participate. However, those who are allergic to propofol or do not want to participate will not be included in the study.
If you choose to take part in this trial, you'll first have your height, weight, age, and gender recorded, and your body weight will be analyzed using a special machine. During the surgery, doctors will carefully monitor your response to the medication and adjust the amount of propofol given based on your body weight. This study aims to improve how anesthesia is administered, making surgeries safer and more effective for everyone involved. Please note that the trial is not yet recruiting participants, so more information will be available as it progresses.
