ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how physical activity, specifically measured by the average number of steps a patient takes, affects recovery after surgery. Researchers believe that being more active before surgery may help reduce the risk of complications and even lower the chance of death in the weeks following the operation. By using mobile phones to track steps, the study aims to get a more accurate picture of how active patients are compared to traditional methods that can be complicated and time-consuming.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be adults aged 18 or older who are scheduled for elective non-cardiac surgery and can provide informed consent. Participants will be asked to record their daily steps using their mobile devices, and researchers will follow their recovery to see if higher step counts lead to better outcomes. This study is currently recruiting participants and is open to anyone regardless of gender. It's an opportunity to contribute to understanding how physical activity might improve surgical recovery for everyone.
