ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how sex hormones, particularly testosterone, affect pain after surgery and the use of pain medications called opioids in young girls. The researchers want to understand if lower or higher levels of these hormones influence how much pain patients feel after surgery and if they end up needing more or less opioid medication to manage that pain.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be female patients aged 11 to 16 who are going to have surgery on a long bone, joint, or spine. They should be able to speak English and must not be pregnant or have certain medical conditions that could affect their hormone levels or pain perception. If you decide to participate, you can expect to have your hormone levels checked and to share information about your pain and medication use after your surgery. This study aims to help improve pain management for young girls undergoing similar procedures in the future.
