ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Weight Change and the Risk of Chronic Pain Following Hip and Knee Arthroplasties," is looking into how changes in weight—either losing or gaining weight—might affect the likelihood of experiencing ongoing pain after surgery on the hip or knee. The study aims to gather information from people who had hip or knee replacement surgery due to arthritis about 11 to 15 months before they are surveyed. Researchers want to understand if being overweight or not, along with any weight changes, influences long-term pain after these surgeries.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults aged 65 to 74 who have had a primary hip or knee replacement for osteoarthritis within the specified time frame. Those who cannot make their own medical decisions, such as individuals with legal guardians, will not be included. While the study is not yet recruiting participants, those who join can expect to share their experiences regarding weight and pain after surgery, which could help improve future treatments for others in similar situations.
