ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how the body responds to inflammation after surgery for thoracic aortic issues, which are problems with the large blood vessel that carries blood from the heart. Researchers want to find out if certain markers in the blood can help tell the difference between inflammation caused by the surgery itself and inflammation caused by an infection. Patients who are scheduled for this type of surgery will have their blood tested before and after the operation. There will also be a control group of patients who have an active infection of the heart lining to compare results.
To participate in this study, patients must be scheduled for specific types of aortic surgery and be able to give their consent. Those with active infections or unstable health conditions will not be included. The study aims to collect valuable information that could help improve patient care after surgery by identifying whether inflammation is a normal response or a sign of infection. Participants can expect to provide blood samples at different times and contribute to important research that may benefit future patients.
