ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how common left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (DD) is in people with myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1), a genetic condition that affects the muscles and can lead to various health issues. Diastolic dysfunction is when the heart has trouble filling with blood properly, which can happen in people with DM1 due to related health problems like obesity and high blood pressure. The researchers want to understand how this condition affects patients' health over time.
To participate in the trial, individuals must have a confirmed diagnosis of myotonic dystrophy type 1 and have undergone a specific heart test called Doppler-Echocardiography to check their heart's diastolic function. However, those with certain heart issues, like significant valve problems or specific abnormalities in heart movement, cannot join. Participants will help researchers gather important information that could improve care for others with this condition. The trial is currently looking for volunteers of all ages and genders.
