Respiratory Distress Syndrome Lung Ultrasonography Newborn

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how a special scoring system using lung ultrasound can help predict the health outcomes of newborns who are having trouble breathing shortly after birth. This condition, known as respiratory distress, can be caused by various factors, making it challenging for doctors to determine the exact cause in the first hour of life. The study aims to see if the lung ultrasonography score can provide valuable information to help doctors better understand and manage these newborns.

To be eligible for the trial, babies must show signs of respiratory distress right after birth, be at least 34 weeks old, weigh more than 1900 grams (about 4.2 pounds), and have family consent for participation. However, babies with certain conditions, such as congenital anomalies or heart disease, cannot take part in the study. If enrolled, participants will undergo lung ultrasounds, and doctors will monitor their breathing and overall health to see how the scoring system can assist in their care. This research is important as it may lead to improved treatment for affected newborns.
