ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of two different types of prosthetic knees for people who have had a lower limb amputation. Specifically, it compares a mechanical prosthetic knee (MPK) with a non-mechanical prosthetic knee (NMPK) in terms of how far participants can walk and how they feel overall. Researchers want to see how these two types of prosthetic knees affect different aspects of a person’s life, such as their physical abilities and participation in daily activities.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be at least one year post-amputation and have a unilateral transfemoral amputation or knee disarticulation. They must also be able to read and write in Dutch and currently use a prosthesis with a socket. Over the course of the study, participants will be asked to come in four times a year to complete physical tests, fill out questionnaires, and wear an activity tracker for a week to measure their daily movement. This study will help to understand better which type of prosthetic knee can improve mobility and quality of life for individuals with these specific amputations.
