ClinConnect Summary

The Doulas as Environmental Educators and Partners Study is a clinical trial exploring how training doulas (supportive companions for pregnant individuals) in environmental health can help both the doulas and the pregnant people they assist. The study aims to see if doulas who take a special course about harmful chemicals found in personal care products will improve their understanding of these chemicals, known as endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Additionally, the trial will assess whether the pregnant individuals who receive guidance from these trained doulas will increase their knowledge about EDCs and potentially use fewer products containing these harmful substances.

To participate in this study, doulas must currently be working with pregnant individuals who are less than 30 weeks into their pregnancy. Pregnant participants must also be under 30 weeks pregnant and receiving support from a doula. If you join the study, you can expect to engage in educational sessions and complete surveys that evaluate your knowledge and product usage before and after the intervention. This study is currently recruiting participants, and being part of it may help you understand how certain products can affect health during pregnancy.
