ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how light therapy combined with exercise might help improve symptoms and quality of life for people with Parkinson's disease (PD). The study will compare two groups: one group will receive real light therapy at home while exercising, and the other group will receive a placebo (a fake treatment) along with the same exercise routine. Both groups will consist of 30 participants aged 55 to 80 who have moderate PD. The researchers will measure any changes in movement (like balance and walking), mood, thinking, sleep, and overall quality of life at the start of the study and again at the end of Weeks 1 and 4 after the treatments.
To join the study, participants must have a doctor-confirmed diagnosis of moderate Parkinson's disease, be able to attend the research center in Hamilton, Ontario, and have been exercising regularly before starting the trial. It's important to note that participants should not have had light therapy before and must be able to understand the instructions for the treatments. This study is currently recruiting participants, and those who take part can expect to contribute valuable information that could help improve care for others living with Parkinson's disease.
