ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Thresholds In Food Allergy evaluaTion And predictioN" is looking to better understand food allergy thresholds, specifically for tree nut allergies in Canada. Researchers want to find out how much of a food allergen a person can tolerate before experiencing allergic reactions. This study is currently recruiting participants of all ages, from infants to adults, who have a suspected or confirmed food allergy based on their medical history and allergy tests.
To be eligible for the study, participants should have a history of food allergy symptoms, such as hives, swelling, or stomach issues, occurring within an hour after eating a specific food. They will need to stop taking antihistamines, which are medications that treat allergy symptoms, for a week before participating in an oral food challenge. However, individuals who have had prior desensitization treatments, have serious health issues, or allergies to any part of the test food will not be able to join. Participants can expect to help researchers learn more about food allergies, which may lead to better management and treatment options in the future.
