ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of aerobic exercise on patients who have been diagnosed for the first time with dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition that affects the heart's ability to pump blood. The researchers want to see how exercise can change the balance of bacteria in the gut and improve heart health by reducing a condition called myocardial fibrosis, which means the heart muscle becomes stiff and less effective.
To participate in this study, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have been hospitalized for heart failure for the first time, with a confirmed diagnosis of dilated cardiomyopathy. Unfortunately, if you have other heart conditions, have previously been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, have a severe infection, or cannot perform certain heart tests, you won’t be eligible. If you join this trial, you can expect to engage in a structured exercise program designed to help your heart and overall health, while also contributing to important research that could benefit others in the future.
