ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how anesthesia affects blood flow and brain function in adults with Moyamoya disease, a condition that causes narrowing of blood vessels in the brain. The researchers aim to understand how changes in blood flow and brain activity happen during surgery. By using a special imaging technique called Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), they hope to learn more about how to manage anesthesia to help improve brain function and connection in these patients after surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 18 and 65 years old and have Moyamoya disease. You should also be scheduled for a specific type of brain surgery called revascularization. However, if you have a fear of closed spaces, certain speech or movement difficulties, or any large brain injuries, you may not be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo fMRI scans while under anesthesia to monitor their brain activity, and they will be closely observed for changes in brain function during the study. This research could lead to better care for patients with Moyamoya disease during and after surgery.
