ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new treatment method for people with a torn meniscus in the knee, which is a common injury. The researchers want to see how well a special implant called the BEAR (Bridge-Enhanced ACL Repair) works to help heal the knee after a meniscus repair. This implant is made from collagen and is combined with whole blood to encourage the body’s natural healing process. The study will compare the recovery outcomes of patients who receive this implant during their surgery versus those who do not.
To participate in this trial, you need to have a meniscus injury that can be repaired on its own without needing additional knee surgeries for other issues, like ligament damage or bone surgery. Unfortunately, if you have certain types of more complex meniscus tears or specific blood-borne diseases, you won’t be able to join. If eligible, participants can expect to undergo a standard meniscus repair surgery, and researchers will monitor your recovery and collect some fluid from your knee to study how the healing process is going. This trial is currently looking for volunteers, ages 18 to 85, of any gender.
