ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of surgery on patients with intramedullary spinal cord metastases (ISCM), which are cancerous tumors that grow within the spinal cord. The researchers want to find out if surgical treatment can improve patients' ability to move and function without causing serious complications or increasing the risk of death compared to those who receive non-surgical treatments like radiation therapy. They will look at how well patients do three months, six months, and a year after treatment, focusing on their ability to walk, their overall health, and any complications that may arise.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults who have been treated for ISCM at one of the participating medical centers. Those under 18 are not eligible. During the trial, patients can expect to undergo surgery if they qualify, and their progress will be monitored closely over time. The study aims to provide valuable information that could help improve treatment options for people with this condition in the future.
