ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the safety of sedation during gastrointestinal procedures, like endoscopies and colonoscopies, specifically in patients aged 60 and older. The researchers want to understand how common complications are during and after these procedures, such as breathing problems or a drop in heart rate, and how these issues relate to a patient's overall health and frailty. They will carefully monitor patients' breathing during the procedure and check in with them three days later to see how they are doing.
To take part in this study, patients need to be 60 years or older and able to provide consent. They should be having an elective procedure under anesthesia, but some patients, like those with severe health issues or those who have already been sedated, will not be eligible. Participants can expect close monitoring before, during, and after their procedure to ensure their safety, and the findings from this study may help improve care for older adults undergoing sedation in the future.
