ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different amounts of air given to patients during surgery (called tidal volume) affect their breathing and recovery. Specifically, it will compare the effects of using a low tidal volume versus an intermediate tidal volume on older patients who are having a specific type of surgery called Trendelenburg pneumoperitoneum surgery, which is often used for colorectal cancer. The goal is to see which method helps improve patients' oxygen levels, lung function, and reduces complications after surgery.
To participate in this trial, patients must be between the ages of 24 and 106, be scheduled for elective laparoscopic colorectal surgery, and have a general health status classified as ASA physical status I-III. This means they should be reasonably healthy but can have some medical issues. However, patients with severe heart problems, kidney failure, very high or low body weight, or who may be harmed by the study's approach will not be eligible. If patients decide to join, they will be closely monitored during their surgery to see how the different tidal volumes affect their breathing and recovery. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable insights into improving surgical care for older adults.
