ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether it is beneficial to avoid a specific treatment called closed reduction for patients with certain types of wrist fractures, known as displaced distal radial fractures, in the emergency department. Closed reduction is a procedure where doctors try to realign the broken bone without making an incision. The goal is to find out if not performing this procedure before surgery can lead to better outcomes for patients.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be adults with a displaced distal radial fracture that requires surgery. However, individuals with very severe injuries, open fractures (where the bone breaks through the skin), multiple fractures in the same arm, nerve or blood vessel damage, previous injuries in the same wrist, or those who might have trouble completing questionnaires will not be included. If you join this study, you can expect to be monitored closely and may be asked to fill out some questionnaires about your experience and recovery. This research is actively looking for participants who fit the criteria, and your involvement could help improve care for future patients with similar injuries.
