ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether losing weight can help women with obesity who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The researchers believe that weight loss during cancer treatment may improve how well the treatment works, help prevent the cancer from coming back, and possibly reduce harmful changes in the body related to obesity. In the trial, 90 women with obesity and breast cancer will either follow a low-calorie ketogenic diet or participate in a healthy lifestyle education program to help them lose weight. Their results will be compared to groups of women with normal weight and other groups of women without cancer to see how weight loss might impact health and cancer outcomes.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be postmenopausal women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. However, women with certain health conditions, like thyroid disorders or diabetes, or those who have participated in weight loss programs recently, cannot join. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but when it starts, women who qualify can expect support in making dietary changes and lifestyle improvements while being closely monitored for their health and cancer treatment progress. This study aims to provide valuable insights that may help many women in similar situations in the future.
