ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a new procedure called endobiliary percutaneous cryobiopsy, which is designed to help diagnose patients with a type of bile duct blockage that is not yet confirmed by a tissue sample. The goal of the study is to see if this method is safe and effective for patients who have biliary stenosis (narrowing of the bile duct) that they cannot get a clear diagnosis for using standard techniques. The trial is currently recruiting patients aged 65 to 74, who have a blockage of unknown cause, have had difficulties with a procedure called ERCP (which is used to examine and treat bile duct issues), and need another procedure called percutaneous transhepatic drainage.
If you or a loved one is eligible and chooses to participate, you can expect to undergo this new biopsy technique to help determine the cause of the bile duct obstruction, which could lead to better treatment options. It’s important to note that patients who already have a confirmed diagnosis of biliary stenosis or certain blood clotting issues will not be able to participate in the trial. This study aims to provide valuable information that could improve future care for patients with similar conditions.
