ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a dental procedure called scaling and root planing affects a specific enzyme called alkaline phosphatase in patients with periodontitis, which is a serious gum disease. The researchers want to compare the alkaline phosphatase levels in the saliva and gum fluid of people who have periodontitis with those who are healthy. By doing this, they hope to understand how effective this treatment is for patients suffering from gum disease.
To participate in this trial, you would need to be diagnosed with periodontitis and have at least 10 teeth remaining. You should also be generally healthy, meaning you shouldn't have certain conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or thyroid disease. If you decide to join, you will be asked to follow oral hygiene instructions and will have your saliva and gum fluid tested before and after the treatment. This study is currently looking for participants of all genders, aged between 18 and 65. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to research that may help improve dental treatments for gum disease!
