ClinConnect Summary
The DECIdE study is looking at how a special tool called the DECIdE tool can help patients make decisions about optional prescription drugs. The goal is to see if this tool can reduce feelings of uncertainty and discomfort (known as decisional conflict) that patients might feel when deciding whether to take a medication. In the study, general practitioners and pharmacists will work with patients who have common symptoms to discuss the pros and cons of taking a drug versus trying another option, helping them to make a more informed choice together.
To participate in the study, you need to be at least 18 years old, speak and understand French, and be visiting a general practitioner or pharmacy for a symptom that usually requires medication. You also need to be open to using the DECIdE tool for the first time in this situation. However, if you are pregnant, under guardianship, or have already used the DECIdE tool for the same issue, you won’t be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to have a supportive conversation with your healthcare provider about your options and how you feel about them, which can help you feel more confident in your decision.
