ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how thalassemia affects the thinking skills and quality of life in children aged 4 to 18 years. Thalassemia is a lifelong blood disorder that requires regular treatment, including blood transfusions and medication, which can be stressful and costly for the child and their family. The researchers want to understand how this condition impacts children's daily lives and their ability to learn, especially since many thalassemic children face frequent hospital visits and may struggle with school due to health issues.
To participate in the study, children must be diagnosed with thalassemia and fall within the age range of 4 to 18 years. However, those with other blood disorders or outside this age range won't be eligible. Participants will undergo assessments to evaluate their cognitive function—essentially how well they think and learn—and their overall quality of life. The goal is to gather important information that could help create better support programs for these children, ensuring they receive the best care possible while managing their condition.
