ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of two different treatments for pregnant women who have low iron levels, a condition known as iron deficiency anemia. The trial will compare Ferinject and Venofer, two types of intravenous (IV) iron supplements, to see which one leads to better outcomes for mothers, such as increased hemoglobin levels and a reduced need for blood transfusions during and after pregnancy.
To qualify for the study, participants must be women who are at least 24 weeks pregnant and have low hemoglobin levels (less than 9 grams per deciliter). Women are eligible if they have hemoglobin below 8 or below 9 if they are experiencing symptoms. However, those with allergies to the study medications, recent IV iron treatment, chronic anemia conditions, or twins are not eligible. If you join the trial, you’ll receive one of the treatments and be monitored for changes in your hemoglobin levels and overall health during and after your pregnancy. This study aims to help find the best iron treatment for pregnant women with anemia.
