ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a personalized treatment plan can help parents and young children who have experienced domestic violence. The treatment involves different therapy methods, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for both parents and children, and a special program called NIKA that focuses on improving parenting behaviors. The goal is to see how these therapies can reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in both the parent and child, and improve how the parent interacts with their child.
To be eligible for this study, the parent and child must be living in a community shelter because of serious domestic violence issues. The child should be between 4 to 6 years old, and both the parent and child must show significant signs of PTSD. Participants can expect to follow a tailored treatment plan that aims to provide them with the support they need to heal from their traumatic experiences. It's important to know that parents with severe mental health issues that affect their ability to participate will not be included in the trial.
