ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how an educational program for nurses can help prevent a serious lung infection called ventilator-associated pneumonia in newborns. This infection can occur in babies who are placed on machines to help them breathe. By teaching nurses about best practices for care, the study aims to see if this can reduce the number of cases of this infection in newborns who need longer-term breathing support.
To participate in the trial, newborns must be at least 34 weeks old and on a breathing machine for more than 48 hours. Unfortunately, babies who already have pneumonia when they arrive at the hospital or develop it within the first two days of being on a breathing machine cannot take part. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it will include babies of all genders within the age range of 3 to 30 days. Families can expect that if their baby qualifies, they will be part of a study focused on improving care and outcomes for vulnerable newborns.
