ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a treatment called photobiomodulation, which uses special lights to help reduce pain and improve movement in patients with Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD), commonly known as TMJ pain. In this study, 36 participants aged 18 to 45 will be divided into two groups: one group will receive the light treatment, and the other will receive a placebo, which means they won't get the real treatment but will think they are. The treatment sessions will focus on areas around the jaw and neck where pain is often felt, and participants will attend six sessions over two weeks.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must have TMD as defined by specific criteria, and they need to have all their permanent teeth. However, those currently undergoing orthodontic treatment, other TMD treatments, or who have certain dental issues won't be able to join. Throughout the study, participants will have their pain and movement checked before, after the first session, and after the last session to see how effective the treatment is. This trial has not started recruiting participants yet, but it aims to find out if this light therapy can really help people with TMJ pain.
