ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of two different treatments—Lactobacillus johnsonii, a type of probiotic, and white pomegranate extract—on vaginal health in women. The main focus is to see if these treatments can help balance the bacteria in the vagina and reduce inflammation, which can be linked to conditions like vaginitis. Women between the ages of 20 and 45 who have a certain level of bacterial imbalance (known as a Nugent score of 4 or higher) may be eligible to participate. However, women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have been taking antibiotics recently, as well as those with specific reproductive health issues or allergies to the study components, cannot join.
Participants in the trial will be randomly placed into one of three groups: one will receive the probiotic, another will receive the white pomegranate extract, and the third will get a placebo (a harmless treatment with no active ingredients). Each group will be monitored for 8 weeks to see how their vaginal health and inflammation change. This study aims to provide valuable insights into new ways to support women’s vaginal health, making it an important area of research.
