ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how adding olive oil to the diets of premature babies affects their health and growth. The study will involve 80 babies, who will be divided into two groups. One group will receive a special olive oil supplement while the other group will not. The babies will be monitored closely, with blood tests taken at the beginning, after 14 days, and at the end of the study to check their health indicators. The researchers will also keep track of how much fat is in their diets and how well the babies are growing.
To be eligible for this study, babies must be born prematurely at 32 weeks or earlier and need to be able to handle full feeding by the end of their second week. Parents must also give their consent for their baby to participate. The study is currently recruiting participants, so there is an opportunity for families with eligible babies to get involved. It's important to note that babies with certain congenital or genetic conditions cannot participate. Overall, this trial aims to see if olive oil can help improve the health of premature infants during their critical early weeks.
