ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two different methods to help reduce the pain and inflammation caused by phlebitis, which is when a vein becomes irritated, often due to an intravenous (IV) line used for delivering fluids or medications. The trial will compare the use of magnesium sulfate, a type of medication, to cold compresses to see which one is more effective in treating patients who have developed phlebitis. This study will involve 60 participants who are adults aged between 18 and 50 years, have been receiving IV therapy for at least 72 hours, and show mild to moderate signs of phlebitis.

Participants in the trial can expect to be placed into one of two groups—one group will receive magnesium sulfate, while the other will receive cold compresses. The study is taking place at Lahore General Hospital in Pakistan, and it aims to find out which treatment works better for reducing symptoms of phlebitis. It’s important to note that individuals with certain conditions, like skin disorders or deep vein issues, will not be eligible for this study. Overall, the goal is to improve the care and comfort of patients who require IV therapy.
