ClinConnect Summary
The Stroke Research Initiative to Advance Equity is a clinical trial aimed at understanding the experiences of stroke survivors and their caregivers within the MedStar Health system. The study will focus on identifying what matters most to these individuals in terms of their recovery and quality of life, through feedback from a community advisory board made up of stroke survivors and caregivers. Researchers will collect information using electronic surveys at different times to track these important outcomes. Additionally, the trial will look into how factors like social and economic conditions, as well as experiences of discrimination, may affect the health and wellbeing of stroke survivors, especially among different racial and ethnic groups.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old and have had a stroke within the last six weeks. Stroke survivors must have been treated at MedStar Health and can communicate in English, Spanish, Amharic, Mandarin Chinese, or French. Caregivers who are the primary support for a stroke survivor and meet similar language criteria can also participate. Throughout the study, participants will share their experiences and insights, contributing to a better understanding of how to improve care for stroke survivors, particularly those from historically marginalized communities. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it represents an important step towards enhancing healthcare equity for all stroke survivors.
