ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring the relationship between microbial infections and lumbar degenerative diseases, which are common conditions affecting the lower back. Researchers believe that certain low-toxicity bacteria found in the discs of the spine might play a role in the development and worsening of these diseases. They aim to use advanced gene sequencing technology to better identify these bacteria in patients' spinal tissues and blood samples, which could help them understand how infections may contribute to back problems. Ultimately, this study hopes to provide new insights for preventing and treating lumbar degenerative diseases.
To participate in this trial, individuals aged 18 to 85 who have been diagnosed with lumbar degenerative diseases and have not seen improvement from conservative treatment for three months may be eligible. Participants will undergo surgery, during which spinal disc tissue will be collected for analysis. It's important to note that individuals with existing infections, mental health issues, or allergies to metal are not eligible to join the study. Overall, this research aims to uncover important connections that could lead to better treatments for those suffering from back pain and related conditions.

Eligibility criteria
- Inclusion Criteria:
- • Patients in the experimental group, aged 18 to 85 years old, have symptoms and imaging data that support the diagnosis of lumbar degenerative diseases (including lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, and lumbar spondylolisthesis).
- • Patients who undergo strict conservative treatment for 3 months before surgery have no significant improvement in symptoms; The control group of patients had no significant lumbar disc degeneration evaluated by imaging, but needed surgical decompression and fusion intervention due to trauma causing lumbar fractures, lumbar tumors, scoliosis.
- • The disc organizer can be obtained during surgery.
- Exclusion Criteria:
- • Lumbar degenerative diseases combined with infectious diseases.
- • Lumbar degenerative diseases combined with mental diseases.
- • Lumbar degenerative diseases combined with metal allergy.
